IVR2: Lower Body Arteriograms

This online learning course prepares coders working in the physician practice or hospital outpatient setting to assign codes for the imaging component of arteriograms. It builds on the material covered in course IVR1, and after completing both courses, users will be able to assign codes for both the surgical component (catheter placement) and the imaging supervision and interpretation (S&I) component of an arteriogram.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Procedure techniques
  • Supervision and interpretation (S&I)
  • Nonselective versus selective imaging
  • Head and neck arteriograms
  • Thoracic arteriograms
  • Upper extremity arteriograms
  • Aortography and abdominal and pelvic arteriograms
  • Lower extremity arteriograms

The course discusses coding guidelines, documentation requirements, modifier use, and bundling issues. It includes exercises and actual radiology reports for hands-on learning, as well as a printable job aid with anatomic diagrams. At the completion of the course, a scored assessment tests the learner’s comprehension of the material.

This course will take most users about 5 hours to complete.
